Janis performed our ceremony on June 15, 2019.
We met with her in March, 2019, for the initial planning. She had multiple readings and and ceremony scripts for us to consider, but made clear we could provide our own as well. We also had a follow up phone call about three weeks before the ceremony to finalize details. In spite of the planning, on the day of the ceremony we had some last minute changes we wanted in terms of the procession and the rings. While she clearly had a preference for tradition, she was quite willing to honor our wishes.
During the actual ceremony, Janis made a couple of small errors, but instead of detracting from the ceremony, her gracious owning of the mistake injected a relaxing humor into the situation. Although some might have insisted on more solemnity, we and our guests enjoyed the laugh and how Janis rolled with it.
Janis will insist on certain things: a planned procession, giving her own remarks at some point in the ceremony, and white wine if you choose the wine ceremony. If you can't live with those things, look elsewhere for a celebrant. As for us, we were quite pleased with the personal touch that Janis brought to our event, her wide-open acceptance of working with a same-sex couple, and her ability to "read the crowd" and adjust accordingly. We got many positive comments from our guests afterwards regarding the job she did and were pleased that she enjoyed the experience as well.

Janice exemplifies every positive quality an officiant should have. In our pre-ceremony sit down she was informative, flexible, creative, and just genuinely a great person to work with. As the big day approached, Janice was easy to contact and provided everything we requested in a timely fashion. During the rehearsal we had a few bumps in the road (mostly due to some less-than-relaxed family members!) and yet Janice handled it all with confidence and got everything sorted just right. Finally, on the wedding day Janice was stunning. She was articulate and "official" yet kept the focus on the two of us. Her words were described by many at the ceremony as "the most beautiful they had ever heard". Despite being a secular wedding, friends and family who had never experienced such an event were blown away by how touching and personal the ceremony was.

Janice, I know we're VERY late in writing this review, but our two-year anniversary is coming up and we couldn't let any more time go by without thanking you and putting some words down here to support all the other great reviews you have. We could not have been happier with our choice!!
